Meet the Pastor
Steven H. Craig, the teaching pastor of St. John’s Presbyterian Church since 2001, has been serving in Christian ministry in the Southern California area since 1989. Steve's life-long passion is making disciples of Jesus and encouraging us to join His healing work in the midst of the city. Steve loves the joy-filled, multi-generational, and incredibly diverse community of St. John’s - a witness to the love and unity that faith, centered in Christ and his mission, brings to the world.
Steve received his B.A. in English & American Literature and Classical Studies at U.C. San Diego, a Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, and wrote his 300-page doctoral dissertation on Jesus’ four-dimensional process model of disciple-making at Fuller Theological Seminary under the mentorship of Dallas Willard and Greg Ogden.
Steve counts among his most important teachers his pastor-father and mother, his wife Lisa, a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, his young adult daughters, Corynn and Kaitlin; and the lessons he has learned from more than 30 years with insulin-dependent diabetes. Among Steve’s favorite hobbies are rowing with the LA Rowing Club, going to the gym, hiking in the beauty of God’s creation, and spending time with his family.
