WORLD MISSIONS World Missions Supported by St. John's in 2006 Agros Exists to help rural poor families in Central America break free from poverty. Agros accomplishes this goal by enabling the rural poor to become self-sufficient owners of their own land in productive, thriving communities. Our St. John’s connection with Agros was established through Jim and Cathi Lamm, whose daughter, Nancy, was on staff. www.agros.org Blincoe, Bob & Jan - Frontiers / Mesa AZ - A mission agency which is involved in evangelism primarily in the 10-40 Window. www.frontiers.org or info@frontiers.org Blyth, Mike & Barbara - SIM USA provides desperately needed medical care, and are strategizing on how best to fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Nigeria. Dr. Mike and Barbara Blyth have been members of St; John’s since 1986 and subsequently entered into this mission field. www.sim.org; mike.blyth@sim.org and www.ecwaevangel.org/blog; Casali, Rod & Ellen - Wycliffe Translators Wycliffe Translators has probably translated the Bible into more languages than anybody else. Rod and Ellen joined St. John’s in 1994 and are currently working out of New York. Rod has recently used his linguistics and computer expertise to develop software for translators to translate the Bible into many Bantu languages. Currently the software is being used mainly in Cameroon to assist Wycliffe translators and Cameroonian linguists with alphabet development in twelve languages. More Cameroonian language projects are expected to make use of it in the near future. Rod also recently completed his work on the sound systems of three Bantu languages of East Africa: Lika (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Lugungu (Uganda), and Giryama (Kenya). The Casali’s are associate members of St. John’s. www.wycliffe.org or rod_casali@sil.org De Melo, Jairton - SEPAL (Evangelistic Service for Latin America)Training the church and its leaders for ministry among urban populations in Brazil, especially the poor, and particularly in urban society. SEPAL is an interdenominational mission established in Brazil in 1963 by OC International missionaries. www.oci.org, www.sepal.org.br, jairton@sepal.org.br French, Bob & Koleen - World Team are planting cell churches in the Philippines, whose goal is to multiply into other churches. Our connection with the French's is by way of Koleen, whose sister is a former member of St. John’s. www.worldteam.org or Frenches5@aol.com Kwon, Jeff & Allyson Broadley, Richard & KerryMission to Unreached Peoples (MUP)MUP is an evangelical, interdenominational missions agency with a string emphasis in partnering with the local church in sending and equipping committed believers to demonstrate and proclaim the Gospel to people groups who are substantially unreached. They utilize a variety of flexible and creative strategies such as tent making and community development. Their mission is to obey the Great Commission of Jesus Christ by investing their lives, gifts, resources and vocational skills in God's work throughout Asia and Europe. They seek to model Christ so that the peoples of the world will come to worship and glorify His name. They focus on making disciples primarily among unreached peoples, gaining access to unreached people groups by responding to both physical and spiritual needs. MUPS currently has over 200 overseas workers in 21 countries of Asia and Eastern Europe. Mills, Tom & Karen Campus Crusade for Christ is probably best known for its 4 Spiritual Laws booklet and the Jesus film, which has been viewed by more than 5.1 billion people in 234 countries. Tom is a photographer and works out of Florida. www.ccci.org or tmills@ccci.org
